More On Clowns: Bobo* The Fraud-Like Clown Phile

Excerpt: "An Inconvenient Ruth" by Ruth A. Cod (Release Date December 15th, 2009)

As kids (7 year olds) for some ungodly reason, we were taken across the US Border, from Michigan to Canada, for the filming of an episode of “Bobo the Clown”

Well, I had a small passing interest in Bobo, I found his shenanigans mildly amusing. But nothing could have prepared me for the reality of filming a show.

Much to my chagrin, in the studio behind the props, and hidden from view, were the “Applause Lights” One on either side of the set. Well, it was somewhat of a shock to realize, and be told, that every time the lights lit up, we had to applaud; “wildly” !!

I felt the resentment, starting at the base of my neck then traveling downward to my appendages. I thought, “Bullblank,” there is no way that I am complying with this hokey order.

I wanted to scream, “Fraud!” from the depths of my bowels. But Sister Cornelius Mary had other ideas. She thought I should clap “wildly” with the others, as a Team Effort. Normally, I could not care less about her “collectivist” ideas. But I was between a rock and a hard place

(i.e. Between Sister and Bobo). So I basically sat on my hands. Which apparently was a big No-No. Sister summoned her Ruler, from deep inside her gigantic deep pockets, and the poking began. She poked, I clapped, she poked, I clapped, (sorta like Pavlov’s dog).

Except, Pavlov’s dog was not poked.

The poking and clapping seemed to go on forever. You do not forget such a rich tactile experience.

So it was with great sorrow that I learned of the passing of Bobo the Clown today. Congestive Heart Failure. Oh, yea, he had a Big One.

His passing has left me only memories. And triggers, (i.e. Clowns and Rulers.) Bad memories. And faulty triggers.
